There are a number of doctrines that distinguish whether a person is a true possessor of salvation or one who only makes a false profession of faith. These doctrines center around the person and work of Jesus Christ. Yet, within genuine Christianity, there are different ideas as to some of the details of Christ's earthly ministry that do not immediately diminish who He is or what He did to procure our salvation. Dr. Harold Hoehner addresses some of these issues in this book. Details such as the date of Christ's birth, the commencement and duration of His earthly ministry, the day & year of His crucifixion are not declared in Scripture in singular statements. But there are a number of "clues" given throughout the gospels, as well as in extra-biblical literature that a reasonable determination can be made on each of these subjects. The book caused me to be reminded of the preciseness and perfection of Scripture, which is always a good thing.
